What to Expect

Here’s how we do things at Eastside

1

Book a free consultation call

Visit the Contact Us page and answer a few questions so our team can reach out to you as soon as possible.

During the call, we’ll ask you a series of questions to understand what’s going on and figure out if we’re the best fit to help you.

2

Schedule an evaluation

At EMC, we don’t just treat the site of pain. Our evaluations are 75 minutes long so that we have plenty of time to get into the details with you.

We perform a comprehensive evaluation of the whole body to find the root cause of pain. The first step in our process is to use a precise yet thorough analysis of the entire body and all its systems to diagnose the underlying patterns that can lead to pain.

3

Get back to YOU

Treatment appointments are 60 minutes and always one-on-one with a doctor of physical therapy.

Most people initially work with us for 10-15 visits over a 3-6 month period.

Upon completion of your plan of care, you’ll have the knowledge and tools to care for yourself and prevent your issue from recurring in the future.

Many people choose to continue working with us for biweekly or monthly check-ins to stay on track and chase down big goals.

FAQs

  • Performance physical therapy is a hybrid rehab and training model that allows us to treat you as a whole person in any way you need. We are cash-based which eliminates insurance restrictions on the amount or type of care you may require. This allows us to take a holistic approach in our treatment methods. No matter what sports or hobbies you enjoy, we can tailor our treatment specific to your needs.

Through our performance physical therapy model we will get you out of pain and help you stay that way long term. We believe at our core that movement is the best medicine so we will take an active approach to your treatment to keep you active.

  • We are the best in Austin. Simple as that.

You will not find another clinic that provides this level of care, 1-on-1, with one hour sessions and your goals at the epicenter. Our goal is to give you the confidence to reach your own goals, with us there to facilitate that in any way we can.

  • At an insurance based clinic, a physical therapy session may include a few minutes with the PT, some exercises with support staff and some passive modalities like heat or ice. While passive modalities might feel good, they will not fix you.

At Eastside, your session will be spent actually addressing your root problem and helping to fix it through exercise, education, and manual techniques.

We do not use passive modalities or aides in your care because your time is valuable and should be spent making lasting change toward fixing your problems, not just temporary fixes.

  • Most insurances do not cover musculoskeletal wellness or injury prevention sessions performed by physical therapists. However, those services are so incredibly important.

At Eastside, we are an active group who love being outdoors. As a whole, we’ve played lots of sports and understand your passion for them. It is much less expensive to prevent an injury through proper mobility and training than rehab one after it occurs. We offer wellness, maintenance, and injury prevention to keep you happy, healthy, and moving.

  • No, we are out of network with all health insurances. You can use your out of network benefits to submit a claim to your insurance.

  • In a cash-based treatment model, the physical therapist enters into a contract with the patient directly. The patient pays at the time of service, allowing the therapist to focus all their attention on providing the best service and minimizing time spent on insurance reimbursement.

This also allows you as the patient to know exactly what the treatment will cost you without any surprise bills. When going through insurance, coverage will vary based on the individual insurance’s policies, and sometimes insurance decides after the fact that the patient owes more than just your co-pay. Cash-based billing eliminates all confusion and allows for clarity in decision making for the patient.

  • Cash-based physical therapy has a lot of benefits over insurance-based. There are no limitations on what type of services we can provide, the quantity of the services, or the duration we feel you need them. This allows us to use our vast knowledge and training to give you the highest level of care in direct reference to your goals.

  • This just means the therapists here have not entered into a contract with individual insurance companies to receive reimbursement through their contracted rates. There are SO many insurance companies with varied rates and policies and regulations - our energy is best spent on providing high level care.

You pay us directly out of pocket, and you can then submit a claim yourself to your insurance. We will help to instruct you in this process, but by taking us out of the reimbursement equation, it gives us the time to focus on what we’re really good at - providing you with the highest level of care.

  • We’re out-of-network because working with insurance companies doesn’t allow us to treat you the way we think you should be treated. Here’s what we offer that local insurance-based physical therapy doesn’t.

One-on-one 60-75 minute sessions with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. We’ll never pass you off to a tech or divide our attention between multiple clients.

Cost transparency. We’ll give you an estimate of cost during your initial phone call and confirm the cost of your plan of care at your evaluation. No more co-pays 2-3 times per week with a surprise bill in the mail months later.

Decisions based on what’s best for you, not based on what insurance will cover. Treatment is based on your goals, and there’s no arbitrary cap on number of visits.

Truly individualized and specific treatment. No more cookie-cutter exercises designed for people who aren’t active from outdated PT textbooks. Bodies are complicated - that’s why what your friend used to treat their back pain might not work for your back pain. We prioritize figuring out what works for you and your body (and what doesn’t) so that we can keep you moving forward.

  • Yes, we are able to provide you with a superbill with the information that you need to submit to insurance. Reimbursement depends on your specific plan and benefits.

  • Yep!

  • In the state of Texas, you can currently see a PT without a referral for a short period of time, about 2 weeks. We often start care without a referral, but since most people need care for more than 2 weeks, we’d like you to contact a licensed provider for a referral for physical therapy. We are happy to provide you with assistance with obtaining a referral.

  • We balance multiple treatment philosophies to get the best results for each individual we see. Your treatment is tailored to your body and your goals.

We specialize in utilizing concepts from the Postural Restoration Institute to address your body as a whole and to counteract compensatory patterns that can cause pain.

Manual therapy can include dry needling, soft tissue manipulation, joint mobilization, and joint manipulation, depending on what’s going on and what’s best for you. Our treatments are always individualized to you and what you body specifically needs.
