Ankle Pain Shouldn't Keep You From What You Love
-
Your injury keeps coming back
You rest and recover, but the ankle pain returns the moment you lace up your running shoes or get back to your sport.
-
You're stuck on the sidelines
Missing training runs, canceled hikes, and watching others stay active while you're benched with chronic ankle discomfort.
-
No one's looking at the big picture
Quick appointments and cookie-cutter exercises don't address why your ankle keeps hurting—you need someone who treats the root cause.

"Dr. Anthony is a super hero! I came into Eastside with severe limitations from knee pain. His in-person work with dry needling and massaging provided immediate relief. Over the next 3 months Dr. A continued the much-needed work and gave me at-home exercises that took care of the rest of my pain, allowing me to strengthen the areas where the pain was occurring for long-term success. As an active runner, cyclist, and basketball player, my knees take a lot of pressure, but we were able to discuss continued motions that allow me to warm up better and keep my strength. I'd recommend Eastside Movement to anyone."

What Austin Athletes Are Saying About Our Ankle Pain Treatment
-
"Erin Kelly is an amazing physical therapist, and I would highly recommend to any fellow friend and athlete. With 6 months of experimenting on my own without a PT, I was still in pain and doubting my ability to even walk for daily life. It wasn't until I started sessions with Erin that she has made such immense progress with only a few sessions. I found Erin to be more knowledgeable with practical exercises she provides than the 2 podiatrists I've seen. Don't make my mistake and delay seeing a PT, especially if you are an athlete."

"Eastside Movement Company is amazing! I worked with Erin for several months on multiple injuries, first my shoulder and ankle, then my hip and finger. She adapted my plan each time, shifting priorities and exercises to fit my changing needs. Thanks to Erin, I'm now back to playing the sports I love and have the tools and confidence to keep progressing on my own. Highly recommend Erin and Eastside Movement Company!"

"My experience at Eastside Movement Company has been great! Spencer created a personalized progressive plan that targeted my hamstring and built up my strength and mobility. During our weekly 1:1s he guided me through the exercises and also did some dry needling, which was extremely helpful. Thanks to Spencer I'm ready to go for the upcoming soccer season and even signed up for a 10k next month."

Common Questions
1. What makes Eastside Movement different from traditional physical therapy?
We offer one-on-one care with Doctors of Physical Therapy for the full 60-75 minute session—no assistants or aides. Our cash-based model allows us to spend more time with you, dig deeper into root causes, and create truly personalized treatment plans that address your whole body, not just your symptoms.
2. Do you accept insurance for ankle pain treatment?
We're a cash-based practice, which means we don't bill insurance directly. This allows us to provide athlete-style care without insurance restrictions on session length or treatment frequency. We can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement. We also offer 50% off your initial evaluation.
3. How long are physical therapy sessions?
Our sessions are 60-75 minutes of focused, one-on-one time with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. This extended time allows us to perform hands-on manual therapy, guide you through exercises, and ensure you understand your treatment plan.
4. What should I expect at my first visit for ankle pain?
Your first visit includes a comprehensive evaluation where we assess your ankle, review your injury history, analyze your movement patterns and gait, and identify the root cause of your pain. We'll create a personalized treatment plan and often begin hands-on treatment in that same session.
5. Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist in Texas?
No! Texas allows direct access to physical therapy, so you don't need a doctor's referral. You can schedule your free 15-minute phone consultation directly with us to discuss your ankle pain and determine if PT is right for you.
6. Can you help with chronic ankle pain that keeps coming back?
Absolutely. Chronic or recurring ankle pain is often a sign that the root cause hasn't been addressed. We specialize in identifying underlying issues like biomechanical imbalances, movement pattern dysfunction, or training errors that keep your ankle pain cycling back. Our goal is long-term resilience, not just temporary relief.
