Tired of Physical Therapy That Doesn't Address the Real Problem?

"I have been working with Emily Tran at Eastside Movement for almost a year and have loved it. We were able to relieve my back pain and quickly get me back in the gym, running, and golfing—and also able to work on a long-term plan to keep me pain-free and moving better than ever. Emily is always thorough in taking the time to evaluate where I'm at and understand what's going on, and then putting together a plan for exactly what I need, with both in-office treatments and at-home workouts. Highly recommend working with Emily and everyone at Eastside Movement Co!"

What people are saying
-
"Doing pelvic floor work with Dr. Emily Tran has been life-altering in the best possible way. I haven't run in years because of various issues, and when my back pain started late last year my priorities were squarely focused on being able to do anything without pain. Once I started working with Emily I realized how much I missed running, and getting to the point where I can actually do it again has been empowering and fulfilling in a way I didn't realize I needed in my life. I feel in possession of my body again."

"I've had the pleasure of working with both Dr. Amy and Dr. Anthony—a bike fitting with Dr. Amy and physical therapy with Dr. Anthony. During the bike fitting, she adjusted my cleats and saddle position. The process was simple, straightforward, and helped immensely by alleviating my back pain and smoothing out my pedal strokes. I've been working with Dr. Anthony for several months to help heal an overuse knee injury, and the gains we have been able to make together in that short time have been tremendous. When it comes to improving your body for cycling, I can't imagine two better people to work with."

"Eastside Movement is great! Amy has been a pleasure to work with! I have had back pain that comes and goes for years, and after seeing multiple doctors and PT, this is the first time I have seen positive results. My favorite things about Eastside Movement is the platform they use which allows me access to my scheduled appointments, reminders to do my exercises, and even videos showing me exactly what the exercise is so I do not forget. Strongly recommend!"

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist in Austin?
No, you do not need a referral to see a physical therapist in Texas. You can schedule directly with us for an evaluation and treatment. If you have insurance that requires a referral, we can help guide you through that process, but most of our clients come to us directly.
How long does physical therapy take for back pain?
The length of treatment depends on your specific condition, goals, and how your body responds to therapy. Many of our clients with back pain start feeling relief within the first few visits, but we typically recommend a treatment plan of 6-12 weeks to address the root cause and build long-term resilience. We'll give you a clearer timeline after your initial evaluation.
Do you accept insurance?
We are an out-of-network provider, which means we do not bill insurance directly. However, many of our clients are able to use their out-of-network benefits for reimbursement. We provide superbills that you can submit to your insurance company, and we're happy to help you understand your coverage. This model allows us to provide longer, more personalized sessions without insurance restrictions.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Wear comfortable, athletic clothing that allows you to move freely. If you have any imaging (X-rays, MRIs), previous physical therapy notes, or a list of current medications, feel free to bring those along. Most importantly, come ready to share your story—we want to hear about your pain, your goals, and what matters most to you.
What makes Eastside Movement different from other Austin PT clinics?
We're an athlete-driven, out-of-network clinic that focuses on personalized, root-cause care—not just symptom management. Our team is made up of Doctors of Physical Therapy who are also lifelong athletes, so we understand what it takes to get back to the activities you love. We spend more time with you, create custom treatment plans, and support you with in-office care and at-home programming to keep you pain-free for the long run.
